It's a....

BOY!

Holy cow, I never guessed it would be a boy. But our little guy was not shy at all. Must take after his daddy. We are very excited. We didn't care either way what we were having, we are just excited to know and to start planning. Everything else looked good, he weighed 13 oz at 19 weeks and 6 days. She said he might be measuring a little ahead but not enough to change the due date. We are so happy to have a healthy little boy on our hands.

20 Weeks

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

19 Weeks

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Boy or Girl

It's a boy if:
· You didn't experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
· Your baby's heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute
· You are carrying the extra weight out front
· Your belly looks like a basketball
· Your areolas have darkened considerably
· You are carrying low
· You are craving salty or sour foods
· You are craving protein -- meats and cheese
· Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
· The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy
· Your hands are very dry
· Your pillow faces north when you sleep
· Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you
· Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
· Your urine is bright yellow in color
· Your nose is spreading
· You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles
· You are having headaches
· You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number

It's a girl if:
· You had morning sickness early in pregnancy
· Your baby's heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute
· You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear
· Your left breast is larger than your right breast
· Your hair develops red highlights
· You are carrying high
· Your belly looks like a watermelon
· You are craving sweets
· You are craving fruit
· You crave orange juice
· You don't look quite as good as normal during pregnancy
· You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
· Your face breaks out more than usual

· You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread
· Your breasts have really blossomed!
· Your pillow faces south when you sleep
· Your urine is a dull yellow color
· You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves from side to side
- You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number

We will find out next Tuesday, but I am very patiently waiting. Holy cow this is so hard to do. I just want to know so we can start deciding on a name, how I'm going to decorate the nursery, start registering. But then again we will be busy for two weekends in a row after we find out so I'm not sure when we will get to register but yay for the thought. Least I can look online at work then decide and drag Chad into the baby store and tell him which ones I want ( just to make sure he is OK with the decision as well). 6 more days....

Nursery Furniture

My nursery furniture dilemma. Holy cow, how hard is it to find a consistent company to tell you the same price every time you call them. I have called Nebraska Furniture Mart 3 times and have gotten 3 different prices. Yes I know some things go on sale but when you call back and things are 80 dollars more than the original price you thought, gezz. So I call around to other stores who supposedly carry the brand I am looking for, nope not in Nebraska, call Minnesota and they are outrageously priced, call Kansas City, still overly priced compared to NFM but they suck! I want to go into the store but if I can't get good numbers then I don't want to waste my time.

Another thing NFM tells me is that the Cherry finish is in stock and if I had to special order a different finish then I can not have the sale price. WTF. It is the same freaking crib just a different color and its not my fault that you don't have the color in stock right now. Also am upset at them because I had called a sales associate about a month earlier and he said he would get me my numbers, I still am waiting for him to call me back. Frustrating.

I called USA baby in Minnesota, there website says we deliver to Iowa on approval, I ask the person I'm talking to how much this would cost, her response "we don't ship out of the Minn." well cripes update your website then.

I just wish something good would happen to me about this and I can stop stressing about it. I have my decision made that should be the most stressful part. Nope not so lucky.

18 Weeks

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

17 Weeks

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

An onion really? This week there isn't much change from last week. I think you are finally starting to tell i have a baby growing in me vs just looking fat! I do think i am going to get in trouble for my weight gain these past 4 weeks from the last time I saw the doctor. I had gained 10 pounds by week 14 and I think I have already gained 6 from then. I'm scared. I don't want to keep gaining at this rate what so ever but I am just not sure what to do. I have been exercising and I'm going to have to cut back on what I eat but dang I am starving all the time. I guess mostly in the morning when I'm at work. Maybe because I don't have anything to keep my mind off of the food. I am truly stressing out about this and that's not good. But next Tuesday we will find out what she says if anything. Yikes. Also after that appointment shes going to give us an order to schedule our Big Ultrasound! yay I'm so excited!!!

16 Weeks

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Up 10
Maternity clothes? Need more clothes! Especially summer clothes
Stretch marks? No new ones
Sleep: Not to bad even though I have to get up to pee once in a night

Labor Signs: None
Belly Button in or out? Actually getting shallower
What I miss: Clear Face.
What I am looking forward to: Finding out the sex of the baby, even though I have about 4 weeks left
Weekly Wisdom:
Just take people with a grain of salt. You will get asked the same question over and over again, and you have to try your hardest not to get overly annoyed!

15 Weeks

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

14 Weeks

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

13 Weeks - Peach

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

What I miss: Not being so dang emotional.
What I am looking forward to: Really looking pregnant instead of "fat"
Weekly Wisdom: Now that your actually going to be a mother, you need to think of your child first instead of others.

No Name

I really want to update my blog with all the things I want for little baby C. We/I have been looking like crazy for items, like nursery bedding, furniture, strollers, bottles, high chairs, pack and plays. By good there are so many things and everytime i look its like I forget something completely. I think I will be glad when we find out the sex and I can actually start registering for things. That way it will make my list shorter and I can worry about the things I am missing.

Man though looking into all of this stuff makes me so nervous. Everything is so expensive! I just am not sure how we are going to do it. I am hoping I have fabulous friends and family that will buy stuff off my registry to take the stress away from me and chad buying it all! My parents are so awesome, they said they would be buying the crib. Yay. We haven't discussed anything with Chad's parents but I'm sure they will do something equally awesome.

I will hopefully be posting pics of things we like so far!

12 Weeks

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

Remodel

Gezz I can't believe how busy Chad and I have been. We painted the living room, dinning room and cleared out the spare bedroom to an empty space ready to begin the nursery. I am so excited to have things checked off my list, yet I feel like I have a hundred other things to do before this baby comes. We wont be doing much on the nursery until we find out the sex of the baby so that gives me some more time to organize the rest of the house. We are selling a bunch of stuff at Chads mom's garage sale this coming weekend. So hopefully we can get rid of it all and makes some money. Also our garbage man isn't going to be too happy either. Its crazy how much garbage we had and never threw away. Thats going to change! Anyways I can't believe 12 weeks is coming up this Wednesday. I am almost 3 months along. so crazy!

The Living Room Before

The Living Room After

The Dinning Room Before

The Dinning Room after

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future

9 Weeks

I am a little behind and will try to catch everything up. But here is the 9 week post 6 days late. opps.

Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. Weekend

Well this weekend we decided to go visit the younger brother at college. Too bad I couldn't party it up with him. But oh well. I have been feeling the same lately where I usually feel nauseous until I eat some animal crackers or some fruit loops. Usually I feel fine throughout the day but its supper time that I start to feel ill. Not fair, I just want to be able to eat a meal! Some day maybe. I went shopping this weekend and bought some maternity clothes from Old Navy. They didn't have a very large selection but I still managed to spend plenty of money. I bought more shirts than I intended to buy, got one pair of jeans yet no work pants. The item I need the most. Will probably have to order online or find another maternity clothes store in town. Great. I am already wearing my fat pants to work and today I actually had to unbutton them. Yikes.

Well the days just seem to go by so slowly these days. I want to be home, laying on my couch. I don't know how I'm ever going to get back into working out. God, my trainer wants me to max out this week but the problem is I feel like butt around 5 each day. This sucks!

I ran into some people this weekend who have been pregnant before and all they could do was complain about when they were pregnant. I'm not trying to complain, I just don't like feeling the way I do. I love being pregnant and what it means and I look forward to the times that I don't necessarily feel ill. It is just a big adjustment for me and I'm excited to see what else happens to me.

Ultrasound Update

We went to get an ultrasound Friday, March 27th. We ended up seeing the baby and it was measuring at 7 weeks and 3 days. 1 day ahead of what I thought. Also the heartbeat was 164 beats per minute. A very healthy little peanut as everyone called it after they saw the pics. It measured 1.22 cm long. Right on track. So excited to get another one of these, they are awesome.

We did have to do it internal which wasn't so bad until she went looking for my overies to check them out. Gezz talk about annoying pressure. Glad that was over. Anyways here's some pics for viewing pleasure and we got a video of the heartbeating away too.

8 Weeks - 7 months to go...wow

Your baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

Saltines are a freaking mess

So keeping track of my daily bowels its totally new to me but it helps to make sure I don't get constipated. Oh by the way, this might be a Too much information post so *warning you now*

I finally went to the restroom this afternoon and my poo was green. Like avicado green, I have never really experienced this before so since I thought this was kinda funny and I have no one at work to tell I googled to find out what causes this. IRON or prenatals. Interesting since the only thing I have ate today is a whole box of fruit loops and mac and cheese. and an occasional saltine cracker.

so weird. what an interesting journey.

Lazy::Lack of posting

I've been so tired lately that I haven't posted forever. Today is a day I actually feel decent. I have hunger pains vs nausea when i'm hungry. I don't know what is different about today vs yesterday but I'm loving it. (IM NOT LOVING THE SOUND OF THE FREAKING SAW NEXT DOOR RUNNING FOR 30 MINUTES ALREADY!!!)

So today I am technically 7 weeks according to my last period but the dr had me at 6 weeks and 4 days. 3 whole days behind boo. But I'm going to post on wednesdays until after we find out Friday how far we might really be along!

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

How far along? 7 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: haven't weighed in awhile. opps

Saltines are a blessing

So an update on the Dr. visit that we went to on Tuesday. I got there really early since I went straight there from work. I had to pee so bad. I was like can I just pee in the cup right away! Least I got to do that. I thought I would have alot more paperwork to fill out but I only had to turn in my insurance and I was done. So of course I got in early and I was waiting for Chad to get there but he did get there before the dr. came in.

So right of the bat she threw out the f-bomb. Like within the first 10 words she used. Ha. It so happens my dad fixed her f-ed up taxes so she knew him. She seems nice though, talked a mile a minute and I completely was overwhelmed that I forgot to ask her about things that I wanted to ask. Go figure. My fault for not making a list like I said I was going to.

So she estimated my due date to be November 14th which is 3 days later than I thought, so today it would put me at 5 weeks and 6 days. So a little behind where I thought but Im not necessarily going to change things because we will find out more when we go to the ultrasound and then we can see how far baby c is growing. So she gave us a bunch of papers to read and I had to do a pap smear. It was so weird since Chad was in there. I was just laughing how uncomfortable I was. ha. but he said he couldn't see anything. hehe. She swabbed me for the sexually transmitted diseases I could possibly have and then she did a manual feel of my cervix to see how far along it was coming. Once she was done she's like well you feel bigger than 5 weeks so the ultrasound can tell us more but maybe its twins! WHAT!!!! wait a mintue. I would love to have twins but Im not getting my hopes up. Im just assuming that we are further along than what she predicts. Hopefully everything is ok.

So then we were to go do blood work, I coulda waited until the day I come back for the ultrasound or do it that day. Chad wanted me to get it over with and I figured what could it hurt. So they ended up taking 6 to 7 veils of blood out of me and she kept asking me if I was ok. I was until she took the rubberband thing off my arm. My body flooded with hot flashes and I was so dizzy. I put my head in my hands and the next thing I knew I had 3 nurses around me telling me I passed out. I was sweating so bad. They gave me a cold pack and I was soon better. Of course Chad was in the waiting room wondering what was taking so long. Then I had to pee in a cup again to test for more things. Im hoping I don't have to give much more blood anymore. I think I mainly passed out due to lack of fluids and food. Hadn't ate for like 4 hours.

So all is well now and we just await next week for our ultrasound. YAY, get to hear the heartbeat hopefully.

I'm a slacking on updating this blog but since Wednesday I have been so nauseated it sucks ass. Today I finally had saltine crackers to eat all day except I went to lunch at mcdonalds and it actually helped my nausea so weird since its so bad for you. god i wish i craved a salad or something. I need to find a remedy before I actually throw up!

6 Weeks

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

How far along? 6 weeks and 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Down 0 lb
Maternity clothes? Still wearing my regular clothes. Wearing the Belly Band for clothes that didn't fit me before I was pregnant.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Having to get up to pee around 3:30 - 4:00 and then alarm going off at 5:30 stinks
Best moment this week: Going to our 1st Dr. appointment
Movement: none, except the nausea feeling in my stomach
Food cravings: not craving anything, but unhealthy food such as mcdonalds helps my nausea.
Gender: still think girl
Labor Signs: None
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: not feeling sick
What I am looking forward to: Our first ultrasound March 27th
Weekly Wisdom: Saltine crackers are a god.
Milestones: Letting the cat out of the bag. Yet I haven't specifically told anyone, Chad told a bunch of people. I guess if I get asked I wont hide it anymore.

oh yeah

I forgot, we told my grandpa and grandma. The first great grand child on this side. They didn't show much emotion but i guess never really do. So Chad is ready to tell the universe tomorrow so Im going to have to figure out how to tell my friends. Even though I still want to keep it quiet from them for a little longer. hmmm. to bad facebook would rat me out.

Weekend Recap

So over the weekend we ended up telling Chad's boss Jim. We also had his 50th bday party the next day (Saturday). It was so funny because he got a little tipsy and came up to my MIL and FIL and said congrats Grandma and Grandpa. My MIL was like trying to keep him quiet because we don't want to spread the word officially until after our first appointment which is Tuesday.

It was hard to hide my non-drinking. My moms friend was there and Im surprised she didn't ask me about it. I just had a few bottles of water and I played it off since my friend beside me wasn't drinking either.

It was also a good test for my MIL because a friend of her's daughter just found out she was pregnant and we know shes not much further along than I am (but they don't know the due date- strange) but MIL had to keep quiet and it was so hard for her to do but I was so proud she pulled it off as far as I know. And I guess its not that big of deal if a few people would have found out that night since our appointment is coming up.

I also found out that Jim blurted it out to his whole family after we left. Hes actually worse then our parents! haha. Oh well.

So today has gone by so slow, especially since I know I get to go to the Dr tomorrow. Yay Im so excited, and I know Chad is too. Im soo tired today, I didn't even want to get out of bed. But its so nice out that me and Chad are going to take Hogan and my moms dog Mavy for a walk tonight. My exercise motivation is slowly slipping away.

I am also hoping for an ultrasound tomorrow but Im not sure if its too early or not.

Man my brain is all over the place today, and I can't spell or type for the life of me...what is going on! Im hoping that I can keep from showing too much too at work. I am not ready to tell these people yet. yikes. I bought the belly band from Target though. Haven't had to use it yet but I might try it with some pants that were a little to tight before the bloat appeared. ha. Least I have some fat work pants that I've kept. Hopefully they last a few weeks with out the belly band as long as know one notices i've been wearing the same 3 pairs all week. haha. oh well.

Guess killing time is over. back to the surfing the internet for baby stuff! so fun.

more people know

So last night we went up to Webster City to get a few things for this weekend. While we were up there we stopped by Chad's aunt Mary's house to pick up the projector. We were there just hanging out and Chad looks at me and says should we tell em. (while they were not in the room) I said nah lets just wait. Well then they got talking on the subject of what we would be celebrating this weekend and he's like well jim's 50th, 45 years in business and steve and terri being grandparents. Mary just screamed. She always so happy anyways but she was so excited. I was totally caught off guard cause we just said we were going to wait to tell people. Ha Chad is itching at the bit to tell everyone he knows.

Then we were off to Chad's aunt and uncle's Rod and Brenda to pick up a smoker. We were already planning on telling them. But it was up to Chad on how we'd do it. Well we were just talking and eventually he asked them if they were ready to be Great aunt and uncle? Brenda was in complete shock. They are so happy for us too!

Off to Grandma and Grandpa Paschke's house. Well I was planning on getting them a card and saying "great gma and gpa" but I completely forgot I bought one and left it on the table. Great pregnancy brain. Well we improvised. Chad just asked them if there was room for one more at christmas time. And they both caught on to very well. They were like we were just talking about it with our friends. Ha. I guess everyone expected Chad to be having babies early in his marriage since hes getting old...hahaha.

Well we are planning to tell my grandpa and gma jean this weekend. It will be the first Great grandchild on my dad's side so we will see how they react. who knows. Then we are planning to tell Jim and Linda so Chad can tell them when he has to leave for the doctor's appointment. So then after Tuesday, more and more people will know as it trickles out from all our friends and family that want to tell the world! So cute.

Until then. Got to disguise what I'm drinking this weekend. Too many people that will question why I'm not drinking. Yikes. don't want to let the cat out of the bag too soon.

Baby Names

I am so stressed out at work today and thats not good. Things aren't going so well. The boss is making us do this stupid rediculous assignment and I feel like Im in college again.

So what do I do to make myself feel better. Check out my baby names..Everytime I look at them they make me smile. I know that in 8 months one of those names we will be saying every day for the rest of our lives. I think about those names for our child as they grow up will it be a good name for when they are in grade school, high school, college, to get a job. will they get made fun of? all these things go thru my head as I look at these names. I keep adding to the list too because I don't want to miss a good name we might have choosen. Im such a nerd but this is the planner inside of me. Being prepared is what I do best.

on the down note i ate a mcdonalds today and it was not good. I feel so bad, crapy, bloated. What was I thinking, I do not want to gain 20 pounds right away. Gezz. must fix my diet plan. I felt like my day was so horrible at work I had to leave and this was my solution, maybe next time I will try Subway.

Food

Oh my gosh. I have been wanting to eat all the time. Before I was pregnant I ate 6 times a day a protein and a carb for each meal. I am planning to continue that thru out the pregnancy if the Dr. says its ok but man I used to eat every 3 hours now I'm hungry at the start of 2 hours. I guess Chad and I will have to go to the store to buy more snack foods. So I can eat something besides yogurt and string cheese.

This morning I ate a bite of a graham cracker. Holy disgusting. Not that I wanted to puke but it tasted like my cupboards well thats because they were SOOO old. They are going in the garbage asap. Luckily I don't have any morning sickness yet.. Yet the key word. I am afraid of this, I hate feeling nauseous all the time. We will wait it out though, maybe I will be lucky and not get m/s. Now I probably just jinxed myself.

sickness....

This is Dad here again. This week I came down witha cold and I hope that I don't give it to Amy. I'm starting to feel better though. This Saturday we are having a suprise 50th bday party for Jim, and a surprise 45th year in business party for Jim and Linda. I am so excited for it. It should be a good time. I really am starting to wonder what Jim will do when he gets there. Monday we told my parents about you being born and they were so excited. Mom screamed just like Grandma Carla did. Tomorrow night we are going to Webster City and going to let Great Grandpa and Grandma Paschke know that you are on the way. I really think that they will be excited. Also we are taking my Grandma Christesons old rocking chair up there to see if Great Grandpa will restain it for us to use when you came along. I'm kinda rambling. So I guess i'll quit typing for now. Until later, give growing strong and let us know if you need anything.

Love
Dad

5 Weeks

Today I am 5 weeks along, well since my first day of my last period. Happy birthday week yay.

Your embryo (looking kind of like a tadpole) is starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive). Baby's presence in your uterus triggers production of hCG (the hormone detected by pregnancy tests)... which triggers production of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone... which trigger all those great symptoms you've probably been noticing!

So we go visit the doctor next Tuesday the 17th at 2. I will almost be 6 weeks by then. I'm hoping we can find out lots of information and that we both like this new doctor.

This is something I found off of another bumpy's blog.
