It's a....

BOY!

Holy cow, I never guessed it would be a boy. But our little guy was not shy at all. Must take after his daddy. We are very excited. We didn't care either way what we were having, we are just excited to know and to start planning. Everything else looked good, he weighed 13 oz at 19 weeks and 6 days. She said he might be measuring a little ahead but not enough to change the due date. We are so happy to have a healthy little boy on our hands.

20 Weeks

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

19 Weeks

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Boy or Girl

It's a boy if:
· You didn't experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
· Your baby's heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute
· You are carrying the extra weight out front
· Your belly looks like a basketball
· Your areolas have darkened considerably
· You are carrying low
· You are craving salty or sour foods
· You are craving protein -- meats and cheese
· Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
· The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy
· Your hands are very dry
· Your pillow faces north when you sleep
· Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you
· Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
· Your urine is bright yellow in color
· Your nose is spreading
· You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles
· You are having headaches
· You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number

It's a girl if:
· You had morning sickness early in pregnancy
· Your baby's heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute
· You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear
· Your left breast is larger than your right breast
· Your hair develops red highlights
· You are carrying high
· Your belly looks like a watermelon
· You are craving sweets
· You are craving fruit
· You crave orange juice
· You don't look quite as good as normal during pregnancy
· You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
· Your face breaks out more than usual

· You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread
· Your breasts have really blossomed!
· Your pillow faces south when you sleep
· Your urine is a dull yellow color
· You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves from side to side
- You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number

We will find out next Tuesday, but I am very patiently waiting. Holy cow this is so hard to do. I just want to know so we can start deciding on a name, how I'm going to decorate the nursery, start registering. But then again we will be busy for two weekends in a row after we find out so I'm not sure when we will get to register but yay for the thought. Least I can look online at work then decide and drag Chad into the baby store and tell him which ones I want ( just to make sure he is OK with the decision as well). 6 more days....

Nursery Furniture

My nursery furniture dilemma. Holy cow, how hard is it to find a consistent company to tell you the same price every time you call them. I have called Nebraska Furniture Mart 3 times and have gotten 3 different prices. Yes I know some things go on sale but when you call back and things are 80 dollars more than the original price you thought, gezz. So I call around to other stores who supposedly carry the brand I am looking for, nope not in Nebraska, call Minnesota and they are outrageously priced, call Kansas City, still overly priced compared to NFM but they suck! I want to go into the store but if I can't get good numbers then I don't want to waste my time.

Another thing NFM tells me is that the Cherry finish is in stock and if I had to special order a different finish then I can not have the sale price. WTF. It is the same freaking crib just a different color and its not my fault that you don't have the color in stock right now. Also am upset at them because I had called a sales associate about a month earlier and he said he would get me my numbers, I still am waiting for him to call me back. Frustrating.

I called USA baby in Minnesota, there website says we deliver to Iowa on approval, I ask the person I'm talking to how much this would cost, her response "we don't ship out of the Minn." well cripes update your website then.

I just wish something good would happen to me about this and I can stop stressing about it. I have my decision made that should be the most stressful part. Nope not so lucky.

18 Weeks

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

17 Weeks

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

An onion really? This week there isn't much change from last week. I think you are finally starting to tell i have a baby growing in me vs just looking fat! I do think i am going to get in trouble for my weight gain these past 4 weeks from the last time I saw the doctor. I had gained 10 pounds by week 14 and I think I have already gained 6 from then. I'm scared. I don't want to keep gaining at this rate what so ever but I am just not sure what to do. I have been exercising and I'm going to have to cut back on what I eat but dang I am starving all the time. I guess mostly in the morning when I'm at work. Maybe because I don't have anything to keep my mind off of the food. I am truly stressing out about this and that's not good. But next Tuesday we will find out what she says if anything. Yikes. Also after that appointment shes going to give us an order to schedule our Big Ultrasound! yay I'm so excited!!!
